Adult Basic Education

A job well done requires getting back to some basic educational fundamentals and skills. Adult Basic Education is a course of instruction designed to improve the employability of the state’s workforce through instruction in mathematics, reading, language and workforce readiness skills at grade level equivalency 0-8.9.

The Adult Basic Education program is designed to provide adults with sufficient basic education to enable them to benefit from job training and retraining programs, and to obtain and retain productive employment. This program is divided into Literacy Completion Points (LCPs). Progress through levels (LCPs) may be measured by approved standardized tests or documentation of mastery of competencies. Multi-levels of instruction are provided in mathematics, reading and language.

  • LCP A-D: Mathematics
  • LCP E-H: Reading
  • LCP J-N: Language

Program Cost: Free for Florida residents

Locations: Mid Florida Tech, Orlando Tech, Westside Tech, Winter Park Tech and Avalon Campus and all Adult & Community Education Centers
